HIS 101 History of Western Civilization I (F, Sp, Su, 3 cr)

Examines the development of western civilization from ancient times to the present. The first semester ends with the seventeenth century. Part I of II.

Lecture 3 hours per week.

HIS 102 History of Western Civilization II (F, Sp, Su, 3 cr)

Examines the development of western civilization from ancient times to the present. The second semester continues through modern times. Part II of II.

Lecture 3 hours per week.

HIS 111 History of World Civilization I (F, Sp, Su, 3 cr)

Surveys Asian, African, Latin American and European civilizations from the ancient period to the present. Satisfies JMU transfer history requirement. Part I of II.

HIS 112 History of World Civilization II (F, Sp, Su, 3 cr)

Surveys Asian, African, Latin American and European civilizations from the ancient period to the present. Part II of II.

Surveys United States history from its beginning to the present. Part I of II.

HIS 122 United States History II (F, Sp, Su, 3 cr)

Surveys United States history from its beginning to the present. Part II of II.

HIS 127 Women in American History (F, 3 cr)

Studies the role of women and attitudes toward women in American society from colonial times to the present.

Lecture 3 hours per week.

HIS 270 America in The Gilded Age (Sp, 3 cr)

Studies in detail American history during the years from 1870-1900 The Gilded Age, emphasizing the relationships between various aspects of American life and identifying themes that helped define the era.

Lecture 3 hours per week.

HIS 281 History of Virginia I (Su, 3 cr)

Examines the cultural, political and economic history of the Commonwealth from its beginning to the present.

Lecture 3 hours per week.
