CST 100 Principles of Public Speaking (F, Sp, Su, 3 cr)

Applies theory and principles of public address with emphasis on preparation and delivery.

Lecture 3 hour per week.

CST 131 Acting I (F, Sp, 3 cr)

Develops personal resources and explores performance skills through such activities as theatre games, role playing, improvisation, work on basic script units and performance of scenes.

Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hour. Total 5 hours per week.

CST 132 Acting II (F, Sp, 3 cr)

Develops personal resources and explores performance skills through such activities as theatre games, role playing, improvisation, work on basic script units and performance of scenes.

Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hour. Total 5 hours per week.

CST 136 Theatre Workshop (F, Sp, 3 cr)

Enables students to work in various activities of play production. The student participates in performance, set design, stage carpentry, sound, costuming, lighting, stage managing, props, promotion, or stage crew. May be repeated for credit.

Variable hours per week.

CST 141 Theatre Appreciation I (F, Sp, 3 cr)

Aims to increase knowledge and enjoyment of theatre. Considers process, style, organization, written drama and performed drama.

Lecture 3 hours per week.

CST 145 Stage Craft (F, Sp, 3 cr)

Acquaints the student with fundamental methods, materials and techniques of set construction for the stage.

Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hour. Total 4 hours per week.

CST 229 Intercultural Communication (Su, 3 cr)

Emphasizes the influence of culture on the communication process including differences in values, message systems and communication rules.

Lecture 3 hours per week.

CST 233 Rehearsal & Performance (Sp, 3 cr)

Explores various aspects of the theatre through involvement in college theatre production.

Variable hours per week.

CST 250 The Art of Film (F, Sp, 3 cr)

Introduces the art of the film through a survey of film history; viewing, discussion and analysis of selected films. Studies film techniques such as composition, shot sequence, lighting, visual symbolism, sound effects and editing.

Lecture 3 hours per week.

CST 251 Stage Lighting & Sound (Sp, 3 cr)

Provides students with a basic understanding of the principles of stage lighting and sound. Instructs students in the fundamentals of stage lighting such as: functions of lighting, qualities of light, design, basic electricity, lighting instruments and equipment, board operation and safety. Instructs students in the functions of sound, equipment, design and sound operation.

Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.

CST 253 Production & Stage Management (F, 3 cr)

Provides students with a working knowledge of theatre management such as: theatre organization, budgeting, box office, publicity, house management and stage management. Offers students an opportunity to work in college theatre productions.
