CHM 101 General Chemistry I (F, 4 cr)
Emphasizes experimental and theoretical aspects of inorganic, organic and biological chemistry. Discusses general chemistry concepts as they apply to issues within our society and environment. Designed for the non-science major.
Prerequisite: BSK 9 or MTE 1-6 AND all developmental ENG courses. Corequisite: CHM 101 lab
Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
CHM 102 General Chemistry II (Sp, 4 cr)

Explores the fundamental laws, theories and mathematical concepts of chemistry. Designed primarily for science and engineering majors.
Prerequisites: Placement into ENF 3 and pre/corequisite: MTH 163 or MTH 166; corequisite: CHM 111 lab

CHM 112 College Chemistry II (Sp, Su, 4 cr)
Explores the fundamental laws, theories and mathematical concepts of chemistry. Designed primarily for science and engineering majors.
Prerequisites: CHM 111 and MTH 163; corequisite: CHM 112 lab and successful completion of all necessary developmental English/reading courses.
Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
CHM 241 Organic Chemistry I (F, Su, 3 cr)
Introduces fundamental chemistry of carbon compounds, including structures, physical properties, syntheses and typical reactions. Emphasizes reaction mechanisms.
Prerequisite: CHM 112
Lecture 3 hours per week.
CHM 242 Organic Chemistry II (Sp, 3 cr)
Introduces fundamental chemistry of carbon compounds, including structures, physical properties, syntheses and typical reactions. Emphasizes reaction mechanisms.
Prerequisite: CHM 241
Lecture 3 hours per week.
CHM 243 Organic Chemistry Laboratory I (F, Su, 1 cr)
May be taken concurrently with CHM 241 and CHM 242.
Prerequisite: CHM 111 and CHM 112
Laboratory 3 hours per week.
CHM 244 Organic Chemistry Laboratory II (Sp, 1 cr)
Organic Chemistry Laboratory II is taken concurrently with CHM 241 and CHM 242.
Prerequisite: CHM 111 and CHM 112
Laboratory 3 hours per week.
CHM 260 Introductory Biochemistry (Sp, 3 cr)
Explores fundamentals of biological chemistry including study of macromolecules, metabolic pathways and biochemical genetics.
Prerequisites: Completed CHM 112 or division approval.
CHM 261 Biochemistry Lab (Sp, 1 cr)
Provides hands on lab experiences designed to reinforce the fundamentals of biological chemistry taught in CHM 260 such as biochemistry assays, enzyme kinetics, enzyme purification, chromatography, electrophoresis and use of western blots.
Laboratory 3 hours per week.
CHM 299 Supervised Study (F, Sp, Su, 2 cr)
Assignment of problems for independent study incorporating previous instruction and supervised by the instructor. May be repeated for credit.
Prerequisite: CHM 112
