Free Movie Friday 20 Feet From Stardom Oct. 25
Charlottesville, VA - Piedmont Virginia Community College's Student Art Club continues its popular Free Movie Friday series with the award-winning music documentary 20 Feet from Stardom on Friday, Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Main Stage Theatre of the V. Earl Dickinson Building.
In 20 Feet from Stardom, Emmy-winning director Morgan Neville shines a spotlight on the untold true story of the backup singers behind some of the greatest musical legends of the 21st century. These gifted artists span a range of styles, genres and eras of popular music and each has a unique personal story to share of life spent in the shadows of superstardom. The film features rare archival footage and intimate interviews with world-famous musicians such as Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Mick Jagger and Sting.
Called "electrifying" by Rolling Stone magazine, 20 Feet from Stardom won several awards at international film festivals and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. The film is rated PG-13 for strong language and sexual material.
The Dickinson Building is located at the south end of College Drive, and ample, free well-lit parking is located in front of the building. The Main Stage Theatre is wheelchair accessible.
