Charlottesville Ballet's Mainstage One Oct. 26
Charlottesville, VA - Piedmont Virginia Community College presents Charlottesville Ballet's Mainstage One, an eclectic evening of classical favorites and new commissioned works Saturday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Main Stage Theatre of the V. Earl Dickinson Building.
The evening begins with two timeless works of classical ballet including the "Grand Pas de Deux" from Don Quixote and the "Odalisques Pas de Trois" from Les Corsaire. The concert continues with new works from returning guest choreographer R. Colby Damon of Philadelphia and Sara Clayborne, co-director of Charlottesville Ballet. The performance will conclude with world premieres from local guest choreographers Elizabeth Reynolds of Charlottesville and Julia Mitchell of Richmond.
Clayborne will teach a ballet master class for intermediate to advanced level-ballet dancers on Friday, Oct. 26, from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Main Stage Theatre of the V. Earl Dickinson Building. The class will include classic ballet exercises and culminate with combinations from Charlottesville Ballet's diverse repertoire.
Tickets to Mainstage One are $17 for adults and $12 for students and seniors. Tickets are available by calling the PVCC Box Office and charging them to a VISA or MasterCard, or by purchasing them at Sidetracks, University of Virginia Arts Box Office, Greenberry's Coffee (Barracks Road Shopping Center) and the PVCC Cashier's Office during normal business hours. They can also be purchased at the PVCC Box Office window two hours before the performance.
Admission to the ballet master class is $10 per participant.
Charlottesville Ballet is now in its sixth performing season. The company is a nonprofit professional organization that presents live performances in collaboration with local artists and offers dance education classes for ages 2 and up at the Charlottesville Ballet Academy.
All events take place in the V. Earl Dickinson Building, located at the south end of College Drive. Ample, free well-lit parking is located in front of the building.
