New College Board Appointments
Charlottesville, VA - Piedmont Virginia Community College announces the recent appointments of A. Bruce Dotson (Albemarle County), Alvin Edwards (City of Charlottesville) and Robert P. Hodous (City of Charlottesville) to the College Board by the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors and the Charlottesville City Council, respectively. The appointees will serve a four-year term expiring in 2017.
Dotson is a retired faculty member in the Department of Urban and Environmental Planning at the University of Virginia School of Architecture. He is also the At-Large member of the Albemarle Planning Commission. He holds a Ph.D. in city and regional planning and a bachelor's degree in sociology from Cornell University.
Edwards is the pastor of Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church. He is a former Charlottesville City Councilor and former member of the Charlottesville City School Board. He served as Mayor of Charlottesville from 1990 to 1992. He holds a Ph.D. from George Mason University, a Master of Divinity degree from Virginia Union University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in biblical studies from Wheaton College.
Hodous is a lawyer and partner with Payne & Hodous, L.L.P., and a member of the City of Charlottesville Electoral Board. He received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Arts degree in government from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
