PVCC Welcomes New Vice President
Charlottesville, VA - James W. Ross has joined Piedmont Virginia Community College as Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Development. Ross has 20 years experience in community college and non-profit advancement and development leadership roles. As a fundraiser, he has planned and led three successful capital campaigns. As Vice President at PVCC, Ross will provide leadership to the offices of development, grants, marketing, media relations, alumni and adult outreach and recruiting. He will serve as the Executive Director of the PVCC Educational Foundation where he will provide leadership in donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for the College.
His career includes broad experience relating to advancement and development. He has served as Vice President for Advancement and Public Affairs at Brevard Community College in Cocoa, Fla.; Vice President for Development at Crosswinds Youth Services; and as owner of a publishing company.
Ross is the author of two books and has appeared on the NBC Today Show to discuss his writings.
Ross earned Bachelor and Master of Education degrees from Slippery Rock University and a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. His 2012 dissertation was on the development of external sources of funding through fundraising, grants, and other methods to help community colleges prosper in times of lean budgets.
