PVCC Named Among Best Online Colleges in Nation
Charlottesville, VA - Piedmont Virginia Community College was ranked among the best online universities and community colleges in the U.S. by AccreditedOnlineColleges.org, a premier resource on accredited colleges.
PVCC was among the top 50 two-year colleges across the U.S. PVCC was recognized for offering up-to-date and easy-to-use resources online and for its high-quality online classes and programs.
"Our goal is to provide access to higher education to everyone," said PVCC President Frank Friedman. "Our students appreciate the ease and convenience of online classes." More than 40 percent of PVCC students take at least one online class during their course of study at the College. The number of students enrolled exclusively in online classes at PVCC increased by 23.2 percent during the 2012-13 academic year.
The list of best online universities and community colleges was composed taking into consideration a range of aspects including school size, location and tuition costs. Input was gathered from a variety of sources including current and former students, faculty and experts in the field.
Piedmont Virginia Community College is a state-supported, nonresidential two-year college. As part of the Virginia Community College System, PVCC serves the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. Since the College opened in 1972, more than 200,000 students have taken classes, and the College has awarded more than 10,700 associate degrees and certificates.
