Richmond Ballet Dance Master Class March 12
Charlottesville, VA - Piedmont Virginia Community College's Fine Arts and Performance dance master class series continues Tuesday, March 12, with a ballet class taught by Richmond Ballet's Associate Artistic Director and Ballet Master Malcolm Burn. The class will be held 7:30-9 p.m. on the Main Stage of the V. Earl Dickinson Building. Cost is $10 per student.
The class will include work at the barre and move into center work. This is part of the Richmond Ballet's annual residency at PVCC and is open to intermediate and advanced dance students with at least one year of training in ballet.
Burn is a native New Zealander and in his 26th year on the artistic staff of Richmond Ballet. During his 25-year dance career, he performed leading roles in the standard classic repertory as well as numerous creations of contemporary ballet. He has performed with the London Festival Ballet, and was a principal dancer with The Royal New Zealand Ballet, The National Ballet of Zimbabwe, Ballet West, and P.A.C.T. Ballet in South Africa, where he won the Ivan Soloman Award for Best Male Dancer in 1973, 1976 and 1980. Burn's choreographic works for Richmond Ballet include Romeo and Juliet, The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, A Tribute, Classical Symphony, Faces, Walpurgis Nacht, Pas Glazunov and Complete Trust.
