Free Movie Jan. 25: Argo

Charlottesville, VA - Piedmont Virginia Community College's Student Art Club continues its popular Free Movie Friday series Jan. 25 with Argo at 7:30 p.m. in the Main Stage Theatre of the V. Earl Dickinson Building.

Based on real events during the historic 1979 Iran hostage crisis, the dramatic thriller Argo chronicles the joint CIA-Canadian secret operation to extract six fugitive American diplomatic personnel out of revolutionary Iran.

Academy Award winner Ben Affleck (Good Will Hunting) directs the film and stars along with Brian Cranston (TV's Breaking Bad), Alan Arkin (Little Miss Sunshine) and John Goodman (Trouble With the Curve). Argo received five Golden Globe nominations including Best Picture-Drama, Best Director and Best Supporting Actor for Arkin. The film is rated R for language and some violent images.

The Dickinson Building is located at the south end of College Drive, and ample, free well-lit parking is located in front of the building. The Main Stage Theatre offers comfortable and spacious seating and is wheelchair accessible.
