Shannon HummelsCharlottesville, VA - Piedmont Virginia Community College continues its Dance Master Class series with a modern dance class taught by arts educator and choreographer Shannon Hummel. The class is from noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, in the Main Stage Theatre of the V. Earl Dickinson Building. Cost of the class is $10 per student and participants should wear comfortable clothing. No shoes are required and the class is open to dancers of all levels and backgrounds.

Hummel graduated from James Madison University in 1996 with a degree in dance. She established the professional company Shannon Hummel/Cora Dance in New York City in 2001 and her choreography has been featured in more than 30 venues there and across the U.S. She has taught in many dance education programs, colleges and universities throughout the mid-Atlantic region and at The Cora Studio in Brooklyn, where she offers professional dance training to youth and adults regardless of their ability to pay.
