Register Now for Summer Youth Educational Programs

Charlottesville, VA - Registration is open now for Piedmont Virginia Community College's Summer Career Academies and College4Kids youth educational programs. Week-long classes in the programs are scheduled from June 18 through Aug. 10 and provide a variety of learning activities including classroom studies, group projects, experiments and field trips.

The programs were developed to inspire young students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), and the arts by offering hands-on career learning and exposure to a college campus. Faculty from PVCC and the University of Virginia will serve as instructors with guest presentations from local professionals.

Open to rising seventh- to ninth-grade students, the Summer Career Academies are offered in more than 20 career areas including architecture, art, computers, fashion design, forensics, game design, robotics, television production and more. Each academy runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The enrollment fee for most week-long academies is $249.

College4Kids is a program for rising fourth- to sixth-grade students with classes in computer animation, forensics, print-making, photography and Spanish. The half-day classes run Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until noon. The enrollment fee for each class is $149.

A limited number of scholarships are available for both programs. For more information or to register, log on to www.pvcc.edu/academies, email workforce@pvcc.edu or call 434.961.5354.
