You may be awarded academic credit at PVCC for work experience, noncredit courses, life experience or other nontraditional learning experiences if you are:
- Enrolled in a program of study at PVCC, and
- Can demonstrate that your previous educational study, training or work experience is equivalent to the content and learning outcomes for classes in your selected program of study.
The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) gives you the opportunity to receive college credit for knowledge you have acquired through independent study, prior course work, on-the-job training, professional development, cultural pursuits, or internships by earning qualifying scores on examinations. The required scores and PVCC equivalent courses can be found in the PVCC Course Equivalencies for CLEP Examinations.
Advanced Placement Examinations Advanced Placement (AP) examinations enable high school students to receive college course credit. AP scores and course equivalencies are listed here.
Note: Credit awarded for prior learning does not meet "credit hours in residence" required for PVCC graduation and credit received through prior learning is not usually transferable to other colleges and universities.
