QEP - Why Writing Matters
Home > About PVCC > QEP - Why Writing Matters

Most students are getting an education so that they can get a job. In some job sectors, more than 80 percent of companies now assess writing during the hiring process. The ability to write well can be your "ticket to professional opportunity." 1

Good writing is evidence of good thinking and effective communication. Further, the act of writing itself is a means to generate ideas and clarify thoughts. In your college courses and in the workplace, the demonstration of good writing skills and clear thinking are essential for success. This is why PVCC is committed to strategies to enhance writing at the College.

By implementing changes to College Composition I and II, Information Literacy and Computer Science courses and by requiring a Writing Intensive course before graduation, PVCC will ensure that you engage in a coherent sequence of writing experiences to help you hone your writing skills.
